Nana and Papas

Every summer and winter we usually go and take the kids to my parents house for 4-6 weeks. this is one of the biggest blessings of homeschooling- is that even though we live far away from family we still get to spend some quality time with them. This year it was during a stressful time that we went to visit- we had the moving trip come and load all of our stuff take it off to atlanta to be stored for a month and we headed to nana and papas house. Of course once you pull up at home it is difficult to stay in a stressful frame of find- there are a million and one things to do together- the kids get to be with their cousins and us adults get to catch up. This year I actually planned ahead with the assistance of Nana and had the kids signed up for summer camps for a little of the time we were there- the boys went to a YMCA horse camp- were they spent the days riding horses, canoeing, shooting bb guns and swimming- what child would not like a summer filled with those things. They also got to go to a baseball camp at my old high school- the boys always think that it is great fun to go somewhere I was as a child. Amelia got to go to twirling camp- a friend of mine has a twirling academy and Amelia loved it- she was so funny showing up all of her moves at the end of the week. It was a great time to spend with my family and as always there were lots of tears when I left- although the move has been emotionally hard I am very thankful that we are much closer to my family- so many more good times to come!
