A week full of nights

Darcy has been working a crazy schedule since Amelia was born so you would think that I would have adjusted- wrong. When we moved there were promises of a weekly schedule with no weekends, no nights etc, but life happens and one coworker was pregnant and on bedrest and another found employment elsewhere so who did that leave- good reliable Darcy. I find it a wonderful quality that my husband is very hard working and reliable but sometimes just sometimes i wish he could say no when needed. So we moved last week- got the house unpacked etc. the kids and I were supposed to head to my parents but due to some summer demolition projects in the house we stayed put. So Darcy had agreed to working 8 nights with us gone and now it turned out he was going to be working 8 nights with very out of whack kids and an emotional wife. Well thank the Lord above we are done. It has been crazy and wonderful all wrapped together. Benjamin has been moved to a big bed, the kids have adapted their summer bed time of 10 tricking me into reading to them while they fix my hair etc. We have had some wonderful moments, so difficult moments, some tearful moments and overall realized we do not know where we are headed but we have to trust. It has given to good conversation with the kids about life changing but that God never changes. We talked about things that were so important but really are not now- but God is always most important. it is a great thing to see the three oldest all gain different things from the experiences. It is also wonderful for them to have to step up to the plate in many areas and help and be a part of something bigger then themselves. Walt is determined to potty train the twins thinking that he may get to cash in on all the money that we are spending on pull- ups. Samuel treated us all to bbq and cotton candy at the downtown 4th of july celebration. And Amelia- she is most concerned these days with the boys going to camp and how that will work for her with them gone as she is so used to their help and attention. The cutest thing she said today was" mom did you see all the soliders in the parade, I am thinking there is probably more then those- what do you think" so cute trying to figure out why all the soliders were so old etc. The boys were boys and loved the cars in the parade and the clowns riding the unicyles. And Benjamin was more then excited when the parade has to be stopped while the train went through downtown- all of his favorite things. You may wonder what Eleanor was up to during all of this- very intent on finding the people in the parade handing out the candy and getting right in front of them. Funny thing she did not eat any of the candy- guess it was just fun collecting it. So my big plans for the week are to get planning for school for next year. American history--- need I say more- very excited that we are making a circle back around to that and ordered way too many amazing books to read for the next year- although i am already trying to keep the boys out of some of them-but to no avail.
