Mother's Day 101

Well lesson number one in motherhood should be that things are never quite as they appear.  Let me  start with the day before mother's day.  The day before we me and the kids had a great day together- Darcy has to work but I spent a wonderful day with the kids.  When Darcy got home that night has was going to mow the backyard.  For fun Darcy mowed a crazy path in the backyard that the boys had a blast running through while he did the rest of the yard ( i guess that tells you how long the grass was in the backyard).  After finishing the yard we got a visit from our Japanese neighbors.  They are a really neat couple but the language barrier has been a bit hard.  They asked if we would like to celebrate mother's day with them the following night- sounds great to me- plans on mother's day!!  Well let's fast forward to mother's day.  We got up late that morning (good thing) due probably to the fact that it was a rainy day (bad thing).  Within the first 10 minutes the boys were fussing with each other and Amelia was whining about everything.  Someone must have forgot to let the kids know that it was mother's day.  Guess this is what happens when dad has to go to work.  Anyway the day pretty much continued along the same path for the rest of the day.  Things were starting to look up around 4 o'clock- i think everyone was excited that Darcy was almost home and that we had dinner plans.  We all got ready and had an extra 15 minutes before meeting our friends. Amelia all of the sudden starts saying "my mummy hurts"  which is code for "my tummy hurts".  I try to console her knowing that she has acted fine all day- well a few minutes later i am holding her and she starts to throw up- everywhere- Darcy says "do you think we need to cancel? "  I think that he was looking forward to getting out as much as I was.  Well needless to say we canceled and i spent mother's day consuling Amelia as she kept saying "i sorry i throw up on your two babies" what a sweet heart!  All is well in the life of a mom- if is amazing by number 3 you become flexible realize you will one day have dinner out again that is not MacDonalds and that luckily the stomach flu lasts at the most only a few days!
