Life Lessons

Today I am taking some time out- putting in ear plugs (just kidding) and enjoying that cup of coffee before it gets cold. The kids have off school today and we were trying to have a nice relaxing morning and half way through all teh fussing and fighting I realize that my children are like me- morning is not their favorite time- they like it to be quiet and to move into things slowly- today however everyone is up and moving and driving each other crazy. It just adds to our already crazy weekend-you guessed it Darcy was working- so that leaves me in charge of the kiddos- i wonder what they will remember of this time- will they understand that I am not supermom and that it was a struggle to get where were needed to go- and more of a struggle not to lose my mind and temper. Yesterday we had a full day- but i thought that if planned out perfectly it would be quite fun- isn't that the total optimistic- haha We did get to church after much fussing over shoes, jackets and giving our best to God in heart and apperance- i am not asking them to dress in the southern baptist style I grew up with which includes tights, dress shoes, ties for the boys- all i am asking is that the tie dye shirt they have been wearing for 2 days not be on them- and that the rat nest in Amelia's hair be brushed- but kids will be kids- so we accomplish church and then naps- and that is where it all starts to unfold- but we managed to add in a birthday party (thanks to the Bryants who are always so gracious to our crazy bunch- even going the extra mile to run cupcakes to the car so the kids could enjoy:) then we head on the babysitters house- she is a dear high school girl that loves on our children and had just had surgery- we took balloons and a movie hoping to cheer her up. All of this probably sounds normal however with twins it is never normal- it is always a test of my patience as i am not able to move a the speed and get things done like I am used too- we arrive at Emilee's house and i realize "ok i have no way to go to the house and visit with her with the twins- i either leave them in the car-(it was a cool day and safe neighborhood:))and let them scream or ask for help carrying them in the house- all these things i never even thought about- anyway we all made it home all kids bathed- babies in bed and then me and the big kids played UNO which is hilarious with kids ages 4,6, and 8. Samuel had told us he was the UNO champion- come to find out that he is not- he had only played it once- haha. Amelia wanted to play Guess Who but instead kept saying "I am playing Guess What" the boys where on the floor laughing- which i must say does not go over well with a girl of 4. So we move onto UNO and into the middle of the game- Walt realizes that he is supposed to be trying to get rid of cards not keep them- ok how did he miss that I am not sure- he lets out this hilarious laugh that reminds me of my brother at 8 and all of it is worthwhile- all the time, the losing my temper, the lack of sleep- I am taken back to a carefree time in life- playing games with my brother and sister and realize this is life right now for them- they do not see the other things (thank goodness). I am learning to step back- to realize perfection is not what I want- but a gracious loving spirit in my children- children that learn to love others "warts and all".
